Public Benefits

The four primary public benefits of Botanic Gardens are conservation, recreation, education and scientific research. At St Andrews, the contribution to the public good comprises all four benefits:

Education
Exploratree is an exploratory play area for children. It is constructed using timber from tree storm wreckage. The equipment is promoted as providing a positive educational experience of nature for inquisitive children. There is also likely a strong recreational function which is valuable for attracting families to the Garden.
